    TeJay,

Very good Idea.  Did you talked to Dr. Samkutty?  If so, what did he say about this?

    Suggested Location: N.Y City.

Characters:  Don't worry about that.  We have all kind of characters in our community. You pick the one you want.

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

You know NY City is not good for the location for that one. Kumbanadu,

Ranny, Pathanamnthitta, Thiruvalla are all developed. You need a location with undeveloped villages. May be Malabar.

Chracters only penticostal people. Direction may be a Pastor.

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

It’s not for a business project. Just make that documentary in Malayalam and translated to English for our children. Looking for Pentecostal characters and I hope they won’t charge any money. But we have other expenses to setting up the locations, renting light and sound and the shooting equipments. If anybody willing to participate in the documentary as characters, we will provide accommodation, food and local transportation.

Please have your opinion about the direction of the film. Looking for someone who familiar

with story back ground. (estimate expenses Rs. 1000000)

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

    Hey Tejay,

I know some people who would be willing to do video and audio edition for you. I would love to help you with anything else you need. I also do sound editing and composing, i can help you with that for sure. But i know some young guys who are really good videographers and have good editing experience who could help as well. Let me know.

I haven't read that book, but the best way to do it would be to set up a story board with 3 interconnecting themes. Well depends on how long you want the documentary to be. I would say an hour would be great, unless you're planning on making it a mini-series. I would shy away from the Surya TV type documentaries though, if you want some suggestions i'll send you some documentaries you could use as a guide for the stype of what young people here would like. do you have a website or anything? let me know

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

    Thank you Mahas,

I will post my website and email address soon. Can you spent a month in Kerala for this?

I am still collecting advice and suggestions from believers. So far we have three other novel / theme for this kind of documentary. It’s not just a video editing like our wedding.

We are looking for characters who really know the background of the first Pentecostal generation.

Also we have to hire an outside professional person to help the direction. So many little things to bring it together. Looking for main characters from overseas, because it will help our youngsters to watch the film and keep in their memories.

Thank you again for the posting

    Tejay

if you are trying to make it attractive to our young people, you will have to get a lot of suggestions and maybe even a director from the US. if you teach them the storylines, i am sure they will go a good job of making it attractive

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

    Dear TeJay,

It is very good idea.  But beware of the new culture followers in the Kerala Pentecostal community especially those abroad.  They are dead against removing of ornaments, etc, because of the new culture (USA) around them.  They are afraid to say that they are a separated group in front of their co-workers in hospitals, offices, etc. They say that their forefathers were wrong, and they are right.  These are the people who will not hestitate to introduce and say "This is my house-maid" pointing at their mothers!!!!

When you will make this film aiming at the new generation and our children/grand children, be sure that you do it honestly whatever happened in our forefather's life.  Ornaments removal is just one of them.  I can give you many more issues that our forefathers were experiencing in their lives.  All such doctrinal issues should be brought into light on the screen for our children (also the ALPAN-MAR in the USA who were bron and brought up in Kerala villages and just forgot about their forefathers ornament removal when they saw some white skins)...  If you do it honestly, it will be a blessings for our children (and Alpanmar), so that they may probably be able to look back and correct themselves.

I am sure you will have some enemies in the USA if you make this film honestly with all such issues, which were really happend in our forefather's christian lives.

    God Bless..

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

I just want to ask those who are interested in this, asked the permission of the author (Dr. E.Samkutty) before anything? Otherwise it could lead into some kind of problems if  the author did not grant the permission.  You may check with him fist, otherwise it is a good idea.

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

As I wrote earlier posts, there are three other themes / stories for this documentary. Palam Thettiya Thevandi is a good novel, however it’s not covering the whole picture of the sufferings and the pain our fathers/mothers went through their life. So I am considering a different novel. Few friends asked about the permission from Dr. Samkutty, we discussed this in long time ago, when Dr. Samkutty was preaching in a convention in Kerala. The new novel for this documentary is in progress and I will post it soon.

Again I need lot of advice and suggestion from you all. We have to collect lot information’s and it will take lot of time and effort to finish.

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

    Dear Brother Jose,

You sond like warning all of us in this thread, when you say "otherwise it could lead into some kind of problems".  Are you Dr. Samkutty himself?  How do you know that someone did not check with Dr. E Samkutty and asked his permission?  Dont be too much worried about these things, as it is the sole responsibility of the person who is going to make such a film.  Keep praying for his good ministry and may God bless you.

    Re: First Malayalam Pentecostal Documentary

Dear Alex MK, This forum is for discussion and posting of opinions.  This is why I accept (to certain extend) your above posting where you said "What happened to you Prakash?"  You have the right to write.  So instead of questioning "what happened to writers", rather spend some time to write something interesting to others so that somebody will think of trying one's own corrections at some point.

Personal Respect?  I respect all the writers, but the amount of respect varies depending on their personal values. For Example, how can you have personal respect for someone who think they can call everybody as "brother" which ofcourse happens because they cannot see their relations.  What did Jesus call the Pharisees?  What did Paul call believers in Galatia  (Galatians 5.1).  What did John the Baptist say to Herod?  What did the prophet tell king David when he did something wrong? When you are filled with Holy Spirit, it gives you the courage to openly say the things that you want to say, therefore, sometimes the amount of respect varies.

Keep writing.... More Power.....God Bless you,

    Dear brother,

It is a nice media film media to use by the evangelists. This media is very powerful and should be used for the right purpose..I have a suggetion for the doccumentary may be directed with the help of one experienced director in the filim industry. We have one director who is bornagain" sibi malayil" he may be contacted for advice as well as help.If he is interested he  can be considered for the direction job itself. selection of the actors also may be done with in the line and suitability of the charactors in the story.

May God help you for completing the task sucessfully.
