i am intersted to know about slaying in spirit concepts, can anyone discuss on this with biblical quotes please, joji

yeah, i am interested in the topic too. have heard it happen few times when people fall down...are there biblical instances?

i dont know much about if it is biblical but these are verses used by those to  believe in it :  Revelation 1:17,Ezekiel 1:28; Daniel 8:17-18; Daniel 10:7-9 

would like to hear views from a pastor or a preacher about the slaying in spirit or falling down issue, thanks

"Slaying in the Spirit"

Recently this phenomenon is found in the pentecostal gatherings all over the world, where as this was not common before the Toronto Blessings (Toronto Blessings is a package which includes, "slaying in the spirit, barking like dogs, laughing- holy laughter, walking like chickens, holy vomiting etc).

Bible never mentioned it as a gift of the Spirit. But there are similar events   in the  Bible, but similar is not same.

Many talks about their experience in this particular action of slaying in the spirit. But someone's experience cannot be the foundation for our doctrine.

Before I talk anything further, I want hear what others think in this regard.

 this topic was such confusing and gained predominance as when we moved to UK.Born and brought up in a marthomite family and having accepted jesus christ as personal saviour in kerala abd got baptised, In kerala everything was fine, during thise days i havenot even heard of slaying in spirit whilke in kerala, as i mentioned before this concepts have become more and more popular in UK( NOT IN OUR CHURCH), Recently i had to speak to a guest pastor to our church and i think he clarified my thoughts, there is no biblical evidence of falling down backwards , only forwards,During the end days there will be many who will perform miracles, cast out demons BUT how do one distinguish the true and holy worship, This is possible only by the word of God,

So meditate on the word, pray , fast and holy spirit will guide to the truth,

End days are near and so deception will rise, BY the way this guest pastor is an elderly person and a bible college teacher

brother can you share with us what the pastor told you? Is it that if fall face forward, since there are biblical instances of that happening it can be believed to be true?

I could not talk to this pastor much about this subject as he rushed to another meeting but what he told me is that the people pushing and falling down is not biblical, falling down concept in itself came recently in churches, remember i mentioned about decption in churches, looking at the fig tree jesus cursed cause there was not any fruit from far the tree deceived the people, remember adam and eve as soon as they realised they had sinned they had to cover themselves with leaves (fig), , bujt jesus once and for all cursed the fig because he was on his way to shed the blood for all sins

now falling forward -  there are biblical instances but that was all personal encounter, none to lift people up, It is like being filled with holy spirit and come to a situation wherein people experinced a one to one encounter with god, like we can pray in our room alone at night and after some time we can feel that we are wholly led by spirit, bye the way holy spirit is so gentle identity wherein it can even detects our most inner most feelings like pain and suffering we are going through some issues we cant tell others , so holy spirit is always gentle and its fruits are also gentle with a purpose Paul conversion, john writing revelation, etc,.....

in short the we should not be really giving importance to these aspects,the whole point is are we ready for the coming of christ, please see my earlier new thread " WHAT IS CHRISTIAN LIFE ALL ABOUT ",

Jesus talked about circmuciion to abraham, circumcision of hearst in jeremiah and further circumcision of ears in same chpter jeremiah, but this failed , JESUS PAID IT ALL, NOW WE ONLY NEED TO BE CLEANSED DAILY BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST BY CONFESSION TO HIM , what i meant is new teatement is all about spiritual blesinga and coming of christ, r v ready ??

Personally I stay away things like slaying, vomiting, spitting etc.. God taught and trained me to follow him with my heart as well as my intellect. Having said that just because something doesnt fit in my intellect it doesnt mean that it is wrong or it is not from God. Because of that I try to abstain from judging everything I see. Now there is one simple litmus test that bible provides: discern with the result/fruit.

I believe God doesnt have any purpose in just having someone fall forward or backward. So the question is what is the purpose. I asked many people and watched many people who got fallen. Do they get some special revelation from God like John in the Bible? Do they feel conviction about their sin? Does it draw them closer to God or more mature in Christ? In my experience with all the people who fell the answer was a big NO. There was a person in my old church who fell in front of the bangalore pastor and he gave this person the `gift of slaying' in front of around 500 people empowering this member to slay others. And they together did the slaying on number of other people for tow days. Third day the member went back to office and continued the sin until vigilance got this member red handed.

That must be the best way to deal with it.

Then, adding on to all the above discussion, there is one passage talks about falling backward in the Bible.

But that is talking about Eli, He fell backward and died, that was part of judgment not as part of any spiritual blessing.

A very good point brother Kochappi - discern with the result/fruit! That is best to look for what happens to the person who experiences these phenomenon. If there is no revelation or transformation, it doesn't mean anything. Judge the treee with its fruit....

It seems most of our big voices in our discussion group is supporting the Slaying in the spirit. Or fallen flat in any one of those meetings.

Get up and talk, at least about your experience while you were slain

One Bangalore Based Pastor ,  who is visiting oversees now, used to teach about " Frozen in the Spirit" may be a version of slaying in the spirit (He has slaying too).

Another Senior Pastor of the same Denomination , who reside in kerala teaches about "Fire in the Spirit" burning inside when the Holy spirit comes.

Can we them both here for our Conference so that, we can save lot of money for AC. Both of them together can have some climate control?????????

while i was ministering i saw people falling down when iam praying (without laying on hands or any physical force).i have a question to those who are opposing while you are ministering or praying for someone and they fell down what will be your response and its regularly happening.

I have also spoken to people who have seen people fall while no hands were being layed...someone would just be praying..heard from people in whose ministry it happened even though they themselves have seen it happen only when they visited some north indian villages. they said they were shocked the first time they saw it happen and did not do anything to make the person fall...it just happened all of a sudden. there is something to this....while we get a good scriptural answer, i agree to what brother kochappi said that we judge it by its fruit. If we haven't seen it or experienced it, doesn't mean it is right or wrong.

There are references in the bible regarding slaying in the spirit.But we don't have concrete evidence to support that the experience today is the same as the biblical times.In many revivals including the ones in Asuza street (1904) and Pensacola these things happened.We can include these as manifestations of the Holy Spirit.Slaying in itself is not wrong; but the fact which makes it controversial is people are made to slay or it is being done as a ministry.We cannot limit the works or manifestation of the holy spirit but  the motive behind glorifying a simple manifestation of holy spirit is questionable.

We should not be deceived by all these.Mathew 24:24,25.Even fake preachers are doing these.(Watch the following video and listen carefully about this fake preacher Marjoe who was quite famous in the late 1940s :he was indeed a pentecostal revival preacher.

 First of all we have to realise for what we are called for, the creation of human was to worship the Lord.  The new testment says you have your lord with full of heart,mind,spirit and with full strength. But after started slaying gift to few of our pastors none of the belivers in some churches never get time to stand to worship the God. Also please note one more thing that in Bible does not have any evidence of such slaying ministry. While i was going through the bibile i have seen that only Eli (Am not sure the spelling) and his sons died with falling behind that was just because of their curse and God panished them. That's the only evidence i have seen in the bible falling behind. Say you are falling forward still the same while any of one was in the groud when God Blessed them see Daniel was asked to stand prior to blessing same with others too... Soul (Paulose) when God touched him he felldown but when he stand and reached where God told him, then only he got blessed by the God. like more........I have experienced a occassion one of the well non slaying pastor visited a area and he started his ministry let me tell you, ladies were layed down for hours (not men) if a person coming from out and looking at it.... what he might think????? we think now????? their kids started crying and nobedy was their to help and care them because all are laying in the ground. Finally waht happned slaying spirit experienced Potty gone for his puja, church fater gone to his work, church pastor gone to his work, sister and brothers gone their work. God's sprit and word is something differ and we cannot calculate the strength of it, once it comes in your body you will see our Jesus Christ and you will accept it. You never back to your same work where you was before. Finally let me tell you we are called to worship the Lord and not to lay down.

Do you mean that the anointed man of God (Benny Hinn) is doing something outside Bible?  Satan never uses the name of Jesus.  Benny Hinn always uses Jesus name.  So is it not done by the Spirit of God that works in this person of God?  If you have not experienced it, does not mean that it is not Biblical.  Pray to God, "Lord if it is true, help me to experience it for once".  Then you will realize that if it is really Holy Spirit or not.  I am not either encouraging or discouraging the slaying ministry.  I have not experienced it so far.  So I would like some of those who experienced it come forward and discuss.  You seem to be a malayalee pastor from Kerala...?

Do you think Benny Hinn above Jesus Christ and the Word of God? Am very sorry brother am not the follower of any known pastors in the world am the follower of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. Am an experienced person of Slaying ministry that’s why am very confident in it.  Let me tell you, neither from kerala at the moment nor am a pastor, just a believer of Jesus Christ. God gave me special privilege to travel several countries related to my job, so I had a chance to attend several churches too. I detailed slightly because you are trying to say that the pastors and the believers in Kerala are not educated and me too. Let me tell you don’t believe blindly something? Instead of believing something blindly check the word of God is it right, which I heard what I have seen.  You have been called to worship the Lord and preach the Christ first of all. Do any of big pastors use to preach about Jesus and his plans about us. None, all are use to talk about prosperity and make a live programme of slaying ministry. So I have a request brother only follow Jesus Christ and the Word of God.
