It seems like every pastor is now getting a doctorate...i wonder how they get it...long time ago, many couldn't pass sslc but now everyone is a doctor! don't they have any shame to accept these doctorate from everyone? looks like any institution can now give doctorate to their friends..or even buy it. shameful!

No overall board for doctorate? can anyone give doctorate to anyone. who gives the bible schools in kerala the rigt to give doctorate? does anyone know about these issues to inform

I know couple of churches in america, they  hire only pastors with Doctorate.  They will pay $70,000 to 100,000 per year plus somay french benefits    So every body is going to oral university and take a doctrote in ministry.   It is easy and rewarding. Oral University is not recoconsized by other major universites   ah ah I want make some money so I study

that is not a true statement that oral roberts degree is not credible. it is an accreditated university and people learn hard to get those degree and that is what makes this very sad...some work hard for years to get their degree while some pay and buy it in a day.

I have something to say. Those of you have been following Hallelujah Post have probably noticed my posting on this very subject.

You all might have heard about our pastor from Niranam have been given two doctrates with in a span of one week. ( I heard that many are waiting Q at his house that they should also shower his with such cheap papars produced in Sivakasi).

This pastor was given doctrate by one John Williams in Madras who I knew for many years. He had proposed give me such one ten years ago which I refused.

John Williams is giving doctrate to any one who can give him ten thousand ruppees.

Did this pastor become so cheap that he went up to Madrass and be given this paper?

Is the level of quality that Indian Penticostal Church has come about?

What can I say more, and he made a mockery of all those people who labor and toil for degree from schools and colleges.

These days somany Drs and poping up like mushrooms.  Actually the real drs are the one to talk about this.  They spent money and time to get that.  Now there are plenty of places (including drive-in) giving the doctorate.  Now enen the churches are looking for pastors with dr. which is not good.  In my opinion the churches should look for pastors and not doctors.

The actual fee for Doctorate from IICM  is 11800 Rupee. Any body caan get it if you pay the fee.

Hey ..Grow In Him's comment gave me an idea that I think IPC leadership would pursue - like the group insurance for the pastors, how about a negotiated discounted doctorate for all pastors? Ok...maybe thats not practical..but here is a feasible idea - instead of giving plaques for senior ministers, how about honoring all pastors with 30+ years of service with a "doctorate"!!! negotiaate a rate with iicm !! :) if that doesn't work, since schools in kerala have started giving doctorate ( authorized by who knows who),  why not have the hebron p.g school give the doctorate..its free!

I wonder how the people who have real doctorates feel when they see the fake ones using Dr in front of their names. My suggestion to the ones who learned is to put PhD , DMin. ThD or whatever is your degree, put it after your name. And ones with the fake ones, would you show the courtesy to put (Hon) aside your degree . nothing wrong with Honorary doctorates, but when its a malayalee pastor, it is 95% sure that is one you paid for or given to you by one of your friends and not from any recognized university or organization.

Sorry to inform you American pastor, but Oral Roberts is an accredited university, and i think you meant to say FRINGE benefits, not French benefits. To be honest with you, I'm surprised you have a doctorate with the kind of simple grammatical mistakes you are making in your posts. I'm sure you had to write a few papers for your doctorate didn't you? Not sure they're handing out doctorates in the US, with dissertations written like that.

Thank you for correcting me.  Oral Roberts is no par with Princton or Yale.  Dallas theological seminary has more fame and reputation than Oral

Fringe benefits are when I go to a house they give  me $100.00 or more once in a while,  Baptism, dedication, marrage , graduation, funeral . brithdays special occations, people going to india, kids go to farway colleges.  I reap a harvest. We have more than 100  well to do families.   Indian pastors donot  envy me. I study hard, I came to US, I have a Doctorate. A Malayalee Church pays me $70,000.00 per year. Pray for me I like to start some ministry in North India. I can raise a lot of money from my Indian condacts and American friends

Thanks for your kind words.

I would not seek any favor from the IPC leadership. I know such goodies are doled out only those people from USA.(you may remember last time when I P C pastors gathered for annual pastors meeting in KERALA.)

By the way, John Williams has some center in US also. For the benefits of all those aspiring to become Doctors, you do not need to travel to Chennai, you will have right there in to your living room.

North Indian Pastor

The other day I read a news item on a reputed US university considering honoring Al Gore the former US vice president with a doctorate for his work on global warming. It stated how rigorous it is for the university to decide on if a person should be given a honorary doctorate. And then, it further went on to say how the whole process is so secretive - they dont reveal the names of the people whom they consider for honorary doctorate because if the person refuses to accept it, it is a shame for the university. I couldn't help constrast that with the doctorates in our community. The universities do not have to go search for someone to honor - they will get plenty of applications and secondly, there is no way anyone is going to refuse to accept one! Fake doctorates are not a sign of the Lord's coming, is it?

Few months ago I saw an advertisement in a pentecostal publication that addressed a person as Rev Pastor!! I am sure they got that idea from the Rev Dr usage.

As people start getting multiple doctorates, be prepared to seeing "Rev Dr Dr  so-and-so" . I know atleast 2 or 3 who have 2 doctorates and some who are "working" on their second.

I will be getting my doctorate in May, not in theology but in law. So from now on, please refer to me as Dr. Mahas. Just Kidding. hahahahha  Also, i thought only malayalees had this much alpatharam, but this mexican guy in florida has now claimed to be not jesus, but rather the antichrist. He calls himself Something De Jesus. Will we ever see that i the malayalee community. People want to one up each other, and one day Rev. Dr. is not enough, so they start claiming to be Moses, Elijah, or even Rev. Dr. Alpan De Jesus. hahahahhaha

It is the same as ordinations. All the wrong things that once Catholics did is being practised by the Pentecostals.

You need prayers for God's grace not to start ministry in North India. How can you exploit people in the name of God.

 

I am doctorate student in a secular field. After seeing all the fake doctorates, I feel like quitting. Why work so hard for years and pay so much in tuition when couple of emails and a check/draft can get the Dr!     Hahahaha..I am not in the course for the Dr before the name.... But you know it really makes me sick to think that when there are pastors who went to college for years, wrote dissertation and worked hard in a doctorate program, some people can just buy it. People who have the honorary doctorates, please either not use it or state it is (hon) by the its side. Seriously, what did it add to your ministry? What is the point of having this doctorate beside your name if you didnt earn it?
